House Speaker Johnnie Byrd appointed Representative Connie Mack (R-Ft. Lauderdale) as Chairman of the Committee on State Administration and Deputy Majority Leader.

“I have known Representative Mack personally for some years now, and he definitely has the qualities I look for in a leader. He has shown great courage in his convictions,” said Speaker Byrd. “He is a well respected member of the House and will be indispensable in moving our policy agenda forward. I am confident that he will provide the leadership to get the job done.”

“As part of the House Leadership, I will continue to fight for the principles that I believe in,” Representative Mack said. “The State Administration Committee will be in the forefront of making sure that government serves the people’s needs at a price they can afford.”

Representative Mack was elected to the State House for his first term in 2000, and he, his wife Ann, and their two children reside in Ft. Lauderdale . Since being elected in 2000, Representative Mack has been a champion doe Florida ’s taxpayers, loading the fight against a massive new tax increase disguised as “tax reform,” and actively supporting constitutional amendments that would make it more difficult for the Legislature to raise taxes and grow government. Representative Connie Mack has proven to be a tireless advocate in the Legislature for the principles of less taxes, less government and more freedom.

“Representative Mack is a sound choice for the job because he is a dedicated and loyal public servant,” said Speaker Byrd. “He is a born leader and is one of the up-and-coming legislators in the House of Representatives.”
