Today, House Speaker Tom Feeney announced the formation of the House Select Committee on Florida's Economic Future. The Select Committee, chaired by Representative Johnnie Byrd, will take testimony of proponents and opponents of Senate President McKay's tax proposal, determining the proposal's affects on Florida's job growth and economic prosperity.

"Tax reform for the state of Florida is an enormous undertaking, and I believe it is essential that there is a committee of fiscally prudent legislators committed specifically to considering every advantage and disadvantage President McKay's proposal could bring to Florida's taxpayers. President McKay has put forth a complex idea and the House should give it the full and fair attention it deserves," said House Speaker Tom Feeney.
