The AIF team was busy covering both the Legislature and the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission today.  At the TBRC two proposal supported by AIF were passed.  The first deals with providing relief to industries situated along Florida’s working waterfronts.  If this proposed constitutional amendment is passed by voters of Florida, these businesses will no longer have to be taxed as if they were five-star hotels on the beach.  The TBRC also passed a statutory recommendation that encourages the Legislature to look at some increased tag fees for transportation funding.

In the Capitol, the House was in session today and they passed the controversial “guns in the workplace” bill, despite the strong lobbying efforts of the business community and the release of a letter signed by the three major business groups outlining our concerns with this bad bill.
