AIF: House Tax Cut Package Makes Florida More Attractive Place for Businesses

April 26, 2017

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) today issued the following statement on behalf of its President & CEO Tom Feeney regarding support of House Bill 7109, by Representative Jim Boyd, relating to Taxation.  HB 7109 today passed the full House and will now head to the Senate.

“Reducing taxes, like the business rent tax, makes Florida a more attractive place for businesses to locate to do business.  Florida is the only state that charges tax on the lease of commercial property.  While this is a major part of the states tax revenues, AIF supports an incremental reduction and eventual elimination of the tax that will go along way in benefiting our state’s small and large businesses.

“AIF commends Representative Boyd and House leadership for their support of this tax cut package that fosters a pro-business environment in our Sunshine State.  We look forward to seeing this bill through the process.”

Known as “The Voice of Florida Business” in the Sunshine State, AIF has represented the principles of prosperity and free enterprise before the three branches of state government since 1920. A voluntary association of diversified businesses, AIF was created to foster an economic climate in Florida conducive to the growth, development, and welfare of industry and business and the people of the state.
