AIF Announces Former Florida CIO Jamie Grant
to Serve as Chair of the AI Coalition

Tallahassee, Fla.—Today, the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) announced former Florida Chief Information Officer (CIO) and State Representative Jamie Grant will serve as Chair of the newly formed AIF Coalition for the Future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business. Grant will provide expertise and critical input to the Coalition, helping it to establish policy guidelines that continue to foster innovation and promote the adaptation of emerging technologies.

“Jamie’s unique experience in the private sector, the legislature, and as the State’s Chief Information Officer will bring invaluable insights to the Coalition as it begins to dive into the rapidly expanding applications and far-reaching impacts of AI and the policies needed to appropriately harness the power of its current and future potential,” said AIF President & CEO Brewster Bevis. “With him helping us lead this charge, the Coalition will be well equipped to thoughtfully engage on this ever-evolving issue and develop policy recommendations that can help guide the state to responsibly embrace AI opportunities.”

“We are in the infancy of AI’s impact on our lives, our jobs, and our economy, and AIF deserves a ton of credit for bringing the business community to the forefront of generationally significant innovation,” said Grant. “I cannot wait to get to work with the Coalition as we address a critically important issue in an effort to create policy frameworks that support the responsible use of such powerful technology and promote a regulatory environment that situates Florida to lead the nation.”

Grant served as the CIO for the State of Florida, leading the Florida Digital Service (FL[DS]), from 2020-2023. Prior to being appointed as Florida’s CIO, Grant spent more than a decade in the private sector launching and scaling innovative technology solutions. Grant also served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010-2014 and 2015-2020. He earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration with a minor in political science from Auburn University and his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law.

Last week, AIF announced the launch of the Coalition with the purpose to bring business sectors together to: 1) develop guidelines for accountable and innovative AI policies and 2) educate and engage with policymakers to ensure a responsible regulatory structure. The Coalition is comprised of AIF members, non-members and AIF partner organizations, with a current list of participating entities available at AIF.com .
